About Susan

“I like happy endings,” Jesse whispered.

from A Whisper in the Mountains

Susan has twenty-five years of experience sharing words others have written with high school and college students. Exploring with them:

  • What makes a particular piece of writing last for decades or centuries?
  • What is it about those words combined with each other to create characters and settings and plots and themes that give new readers – or those reading them again and again – a way to see the human experience on this earth?
  • What made those discussions and opinions and journal entries about the writing relevant to modern readers sitting in classrooms learning to experience their own lives?

Susan also teaches classes at her church and leads Women’s Retreats at her farm. She attends conferences and training seminars held locally, in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and at The Cove in Asheville, North Carolina. Studying about her Father and Jesus and the Bible is one of her favorite things to do.

Walking on the farm with her little Bentley and listening for her Father’s voice encouraged her to take the next step in following His will and purpose for her life: writing for Him about having a faith that is natural. Talking to Him and about Him is a natural way to live in this world. A way that prepares His children for their lives in heaven.

Her first novel – A Whisper in the Mountains – was published in 2022.
